About Us
Since 1994 we've been mentoring climbers to help them expand their knowledge and become self-sufficient climbers at the New River Gorge and beyond. We offer private guiding and customized instruction for beginner to advanced climbers, who want to expand their knowledge, learn new skills, and gain experience to help reach their climbing goals.
All of our guides and instructors are not only climbers to their core, they are fun to climb with, and are skilled teachers who can help you meet your climbing goals. They're all trained and certified by the American Mountain Guide Association as Single Pitch Instructors (at minimum) and are dedicated professionals who take their job seriously.
We're headquartered in Water Stone Outdoors, your one-stop climbing shop at the New. The shop is open year-round, and the guide service operates seasonally from March to November (or whenever winter sets in). Have a trip booked? I was a little apprehensive about how our climb would go. I'm almost 68 and was climbing with niece and nephews. ages 12, 10, and 8. But Nina have each of us just the right amount of encouragement, coaching, and support, to leave us feeling really great about ourselves and what we accomplished! We had SO MUCH FUN!

We had an amazing time climbing with Dan. He did a great job of matching the locations to the skills of our group. We were each challenged by the climbs, but never felt unsafe. Dan provided just the right amount of coaching and feedback. My family would absolutely love to come climb with Dan again if we get the chance!

The trip to new river mountain guides climbing was amazing. Everyone was so kind and welcoming. They had no problems working with your comfort level (myself never rock climbing before) and it is almost guaranteed that they will support and encourage you the entire way! All in all a fantastic group to climb with and a truly wonderful experience. The views were beautiful and the atmosphere the workers set up was a huge part in helping to make their group feel comfortable and safe. Would 100% recommend and go again!! (Tour guide was absolutely wonderful and honestly made the entire experience worth it especially as a first timer)

Tim was knowledgeable, patient, and fun. I’m so happy I booked this trip! After not climbing for a few years this was a perfect return to outdoor rock.
