Jeffery Hearn
About me
Jeff hails from the flat lands of Madison, Ohio and miraculously has 2 decades of climbing experience. He started guiding for New River Mountain Gudies in 2011. Currently he is the Operations Manager, Senior Instructor, and a Warrior's Way Trainer.
Jeff has been described as a magical mythical unicorn. So it is not surprising he has developed a strong following of return clients who are taken by his patient teaching approach, ability to relate to people of all ages, and uncanny ability to dance up routes. A day of climbing with Jeff is an experience to treasure.
What did he do before becoming a professional climbing instructor? Jeff earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked at a nuclear power plant for a short time. After that he worked for his family's plumbing and HVAC business for more than a decade. So you may learn how to fix your toilet and build a climbing anchor all in the same day!

We had a super fun time climbing with Jeff! We were a group of four moderate level climbers and had the pleasure of two back to back full days with Jeff at the New. By the end of day two we had nothing left to give and gained some fabulous skills and memories. Jeff is knowledgeable in all aspects of climbing and is just plain fun to be around.
