Being effective in climbing requires us to understand the consequences of our decisions and actions. In climbing the main consequence is falling. By understanding how to fall we diminish the chance of injury and allow us to focus attention effectively on climbing. In this 2-day camp, you will learn how to more effectively deal with falling situations by applying Warrior's Way exercises straight from the pages of the Espresso Lessons.

 

You'll learn to:

-Fall safely

-Give a dynamic (cushioned) belay

-Break a climb into smaller risk events

-Assess risks effectively

-Distinguish between no- and yes-fall zones

-Engage no- and yes-fall zones appropriately

-Make appropriate risk decisions

-Improve body and mind awareness

-Rest effectively

-Improve breathing

-Create flow and momentum

-Deal with climbing stress

-Commit more deliberately

-Reduce fear

 

Pre-Requisite Experience:

-Minimum 6 months climbing experience

-Climb a minimum of 5.9 in the gym without falling

-Being able to lead climb is not required, however, if -students want to lead during the clinic they must get lead certified at the gym PRIOR to the clinic date.
