Jennifer Flaggs

About me

Jennifer hails from Pittsburgh and currently splits her time between the New and the Burgh.  She began her climbing journey in 2016 with a barn, a group of friends, and a lot of plywood.  A climbing wall was thus born and she was hooked, especially after she made the transition outside to actual rocks!  Being in the company of people who also love being outdoors has always been a joy, and climbing has been a new way to express that.  She has travelled to climb in a myriad of places but loves the New River Gorge and east coast sandstone the best.  She'd love to share a day of climbing with you!  If you have pictures of your dog, even better!  When she's not guiding, Jennifer flaps her hands wildly for people who are Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing as an ASL interpreter (and most of the time it makes sense).  So if that happens to meet what you need - we've got you covered!  If not, her English is pretty darn good too, even if she is partly Canadian and likes to throw out the occasional "eh?"  She previously lived and worked on an ecology field station studying snails and can tell you exactly how far and fast they can travel in a given 8-hour period to escape a plastic tub.  She loves to teach and share ideas and feels very fortunate to be able to do this in the magical New River Gorge National Park as a member of New River Mountain Guides.
