Hunter Banks Fly Fishing first opened our doors in February 1985. Our mission has remained true for 40 years: foster the fly fishing community in Asheville and the surrounding mountains of Western North Carolina. The two key efforts that drive our mission are offering products that we feel support community members with the best fly fishing gear on the market along with services that ensure fantastic days on the water. All of this is backed by our brand's promise: offer industry-leading customer service and support for every angler every day. We pride ourselves in creating an environment where we relish the opportunity to connect with beginning and advanced anglers alike. Had an amazing experience fly fishing for the first time on private waters with our guide Chris Manet. He did a great job explaining to us the basics of fly fishing. My father, brother and I caught around 5-6 fish each and couldn’t have asked for a better trip.

Scheduled this trip to just get some memories for me and my dad. He grew up fishing with his dad and does some spinner and caster fishing in his own. Been more then a decade since he did any trout fishing so thought a private guide would be good to get him back on some water and a fish in the net. We’ve been coming around the HB store recently so it made sense to use them for a trip like this. Caleb was great, got my dad setup and got plenty of fish landed for him! I was able to try some streamer fishing and land some good size fish as well. Great day out on Ivy Bend, we’re excited to see how that area grows and hear more about the efforts conserving that section of water.

Caleb is awesome! The experience we requested was not only inconvenient for the hiking involved, but also outside of the optimal season. Not only did Caleb guide us to exactly what we were asking for when others wouldn’t, but also he set us up for success with the flies the fish wanted.
