Hunter Banks Fly Fishing first opened our doors in February 1985. Our mission has remained true for 40 years: foster the fly fishing community in Asheville and the surrounding mountains of Western North Carolina. The two key efforts that drive our mission are offering products that we feel support community members with the best fly fishing gear on the market along with services that ensure fantastic days on the water. All of this is backed by our brand's promise: offer industry-leading customer service and support for every angler every day. We pride ourselves in creating an environment where we relish the opportunity to connect with beginning and advanced anglers alike. Whether you're a beginning angler curious about the sport and want to know how to get started or a seasoned veteran looking for a new wading boot to ensure you're wading confidently, our team of passionate and friendly fly fishing professionals take great satisfaction in providing the best support possible. Along with the angler support our team members provide, we also believe that education is a key element to developing our fly fishing community. Tap into the experience of our team and learn more about fly fishing and fly tying through our educational offerings. Whether on the water or at the vise, we hope to connect with you and help propel your skills forward. Additionally, each year we make considerable investments in several organizations that foster the sport of fly fishing. These include Land O' Sky Trout Unlimited, Casting Carolinas, Project Healing Waters, and many more. Join our community and help us preserve the environment we so dearly love and connect others with the joy we find on the water. From those who love to fish and serve, ~ The Hunter Banks Fly Fishing Team

Trip: Private Water Wade

Guide: Miller W.

What a fantastic day of fishing. Beautiful setting. No need to jockey for a position on the water. Guide was outstanding - lots of knowledge. Gave me grace on all my mistakes. Showed me some new stuff. And put me on some amazing fish. Can’t wait to do it again. Basically a perfect morning.

Trip: Private Water Wade

Guide: Chris M.

Chris is a great guide. Very knowledgeable. Obviously the water level was a bunch of lower than we would have preferred, but it was still a good day.

Trip: Full Day Float Trip: Tennessee (1-2 Anglers Per Boat)

Guide: Rand H.

Rand was an outstanding guide, I’ve worked with many over 50 years. He was professional and personable, funny and serious about fishing. He was helpful only when I needed help. I give my highest commendation without reservation

Trip: Half Day Fly Fishing - Wade Trip

Guide: Matt B.

Caught over 20 fish with friendly, knowledgeable, and talented Matt. He chose a spot based on weather conditions and crowds. It paid off.

Great time with Jimmy at Ivy Bend. Support the conservation effort and do Ivy Bend for a wade trip. Jimmy listened to us carefully as to our experience and focused his efforts to teach and have fun. We improved our skills, caught fish and had a lot of fun. Already tried Jimmy's tips on home waters. Excellent experience.

Trip: Half Day Fly Fishing - Wade Trip

Guide: Matt B.

We had an epic day on the river with Matt. He scouted a perfect spot full of fish without anyone else around. We caught too many to count. I’ve been done all kinds of fishing with a lot of different guides and Matt is one the best I’ve ever been out with.
