Jake Payne

About me

Jake has been fishing the waters of Western North Carolina since childhood. He is an Asheville native and a self taught fly fisherman. While in college, he began guiding with Hunter Banks and quickly fell in love with sharing the art of fly fishing with others. After several years of guiding locally, he moved to Wyoming to work as a full-time guide. Altogether, he has a decade of guiding experience. Today, Jake works full time as a lineman in the Asheville area, but continues to pursue his passion for guiding. Outside of work and fishing, he enjoys grouse hunting with his llewellin setter, Shula. With fifteen years spent improving his fly fishing skills, mastering new techniques, and fly tying, Jake has become a knowledgeable guide and a lifelong learner of the sport. Whether you want to hone your skills or simply enjoy a relaxing day on the river, he makes it a priority to tailor each trip to meet your expectations and share his expertise in the waters of Western North Carolina.
