Trip: AIARE Avy 1 Course

Guide: Chris T.

It was amazing! Chris did a great job educating the crew on how to plan a safe route in the backcountry, how to read snow, great tips to use in the backcountry and how to use our avalanche gear! I’m so geeked to use all information to plan trips in the backcountry.

This was a great experience! Matthew and Cam are two very good instructors. You can see they really enjoy their job teaching people safety. We learned a lot and they did a great job explaining things and answering your questions. Thanks!

Kam and Jordan absolutely rock. We had the best day - all down to their expert guiding, friendly, welcoming vibe and the chill vine that did not short change the stoke

Trip: Ouray Ice Park - Full Day

Guide: Suzanna L.

Excellent! This was such a fun day! Suzanna let us try out routes that were fun and challenging while providing helpful feedback. It was great to be able to really experience the ice park and get great tips on technique that I can improve on. Suzanna was really calm, patient, and fun. I would absolutely climb with her again. A truly memorable day that I enjoyed so much!

Trip: AIARE Companion Rescue Course

Guide: Kam W., Matthew C.

Our guides were super knowledgeable, and most importantly very approachable. There was not judgement or anything like that. It was a comfortable learning environment with great feedback and tons of knowledge to be shared. The day was well organized, in a beautiful and easy location, and the guides work very hard to set up good simulations. We loved it.

Trip: AIARE Hut Based Avy 1 Course

Guide: Sarah M., Mia T.

Absolutely invaluable. I was honestly worried I wouldn’t learn a lot that would be easily applicable but I couldn’t have been more wrong. Most of the time was spent outside in terrain making decisions and looking at conditions in real time. Way more skinning and skiing than I expected which was just awesome. I felt that what was communicated indoors was directly applied outdoors and there was flexibility to allow for experiencing different challenges. The guides allowed for each person to grow in the ways most valuable to them while still having agency. It was more than learning about avalanche safety—it was learning to actually navigate risks associated with avalanches in the backcountry. The rescue practice was an added skill as well. I feel that I have a much better understanding of what and where to evaluate. I would not have gained nearly as much from a course structured differently or located elsewhere.
