Welcome to San Juan Expeditions the guide service of Silverton and Durango Colorado. As a year-round guide service, we offer our clients jaw-dropping climbing and trekking opportunities in the summer while our guided skiing, ice climbing, and avalanche education keep our guests busy in the winter. As the only year-round guide service headquartered in Silverton, we are uniquely qualified to share our world-class backyard with you, your friends, and your family. This 3 day avy 1 course at the Thelma hut was fantastic. Tico and AJ were amazing guides. There was a nice mix of class instruction and field work the first day and then field work the next two days. Throughout the instruction, touring and skiing, Tico and AJ gave the participants the opportunity to apply what was taught and question us through the process and questions rather than just giving us the answers and information. They were both incredibly knowledgeable in the content. Thanks guys

Any questions we had were quickly answered, they were quick to help with renting the gear we needed, and everyone we met was super friendly. Had a great time on this trip. Did not get to summit due to weather but guide was great! In pre trip planning I had mentioned to guide that I am not a big fan of dehydrated meals so he prepared non-dehydrated meals which I very much appreciated. Guide easy to get along with and kept it interesting. Great terrain and fall colors. Professional as well
