Welcome to San Juan Expeditions the guide service of Silverton and Durango Colorado. As a year-round guide service, we offer our clients jaw-dropping climbing and trekking opportunities in the summer while our guided skiing, ice climbing, and avalanche education keep our guests busy in the winter. As the only year-round guide service headquartered in Silverton, we are uniquely qualified to share our world-class backyard with you, your friends, and your family. Super fun instructors! They were very knowledgeable and answered all questions with finesse. I’m for sure coming back for the rescue and avy 2 in the future. The hut was also amazing, made the learning a little more relaxed and gave for more time to go over course material. 100% going to be sending my friends to SJE. Thanks for the trip! Oh! And the shadow instructors ( Anne and Chris) were so awesome and helpful too!!

This was a great experience from SJE. Bruce and Chris are knowledgeable and engaging. Perfect balance of lecture, discussion and learning in the field. My goals of getting an intro to avalanche fundamentals and gaining the tools and knowledge to plan safe winter travel in backcountry were met. The hut-based course really allowed me to focus on the material and make meaningful connections with the instructors and other students. And enjoy the spectacular setting and great hospitality provided by Bruce and Chris. Highly recommend!!!
