Welcome to San Juan Expeditions the guide service of Silverton and Durango Colorado. As a year-round guide service, we offer our clients jaw-dropping climbing and trekking opportunities in the summer while our guided skiing, ice climbing, and avalanche education keep our guests busy in the winter. As the only year-round guide service headquartered in Silverton, we are uniquely qualified to share our world-class backyard with you, your friends, and your family. Trip: Jagged Peak

We hired a fantastic guide from San Juan Expeditions to climb Jagged Mountain. Our guide was Kam Weakley who has an enormous amount of rock climbing and mountain climbing (and snowboarding) experience. We met Kam in Jagged basin and he provided all the ropes and climbing equipment. Kam was very organized and efficient in setting up the ropes and belaying us down. Kam has climbed most of the difficult technical routes in the San Juan mountains and is perfect for the most difficult multi-pitch climbs. This was his 15th time climbing Jagged. He’s also a nice person to climb with. We were on top at 8:30 in the morning and rappelling down the face- right off the very top of the peak. I highly recommend getting a guide like Kam who can ensure your safety and maximize the fun of these more difficult climbing routes. San Juan Expeditions was very reasonable for the price and I’m looking forward to using them again for more fantastic climbing!

Excellent 3-night backpack, explore and summit of Vestal Peak via Wham Ridge. Proud to have accomplished this at the ripe age of 71! Over 1,000’ of belayed climbing, and not an easy descent (steep, rutted trail off the backside and circumnavigating Vestal back to high camp). Fun wildlife viewing of deer, pika and marmots. Not crowded, but opportunities to meet and talk with other high country enthusiasts in Vestal Basin. Highly recommended if you’re in shape.
