Aspen Expeditions

Total bucket list winter day in the Bells. Avalanche risk was too high elsewhere so toured out to Maroon Lake. Great conditions, and we took a break and Will taught me how to evaluate snow for avalanche risk. Had fun, learned something new, and enjoyed the beautiful Bells scenery.

Nate was great. Very knowledgeable and personable and taught the skills and facilitated the practice effectively. Maybe the only two suggestions i would make is while each of us practiced the single rescuer/3 buried scenario, give something for the other two students to do while they wait. And the course went until 4pm but we finished at 3. Maybe there was some content to practice or review. Nate did offer to answer any avi related questions that we had and to stay and talk but we didnt take him up on it. Thanks!
