Pyramid Peak, the closest fourteen thousand foot summit to downtown Aspen, just happens to be one the Elk Range’s most spectacular. The peak is considered a classic in terms of scenery, positioning, difficulty and history. Due to its relatively easy access from Aspen, we feel this is an excellent first "technical" peak to attempt with one or our AMGA Trained/Certified Guides. The summit of Pyramid offers some of the most spectacular views in the Elks, with the Maroon Bells right across the valley. This ascent is world-class and will award mountain adventurers a timeless memory!

Our AMGA trained and certified mountain guides will tailor a memorable, one-of-a-kind climbing adventure just for you!

Your guide will contact you the day or two before to discuss the plan, including a confirmed meeting place and start time, go over necessary gear/food to pack, and any other questions/concerns you may have.

You will be provided with a helmet, harness, climbing equipment, ropes, and a pack as required.

Trip: Pyramid Peak

Guide: Scott E.

I booked Aspen Expeditions for a guided climb of Pyramid Peak. Our guide Scott was amazing. He communicated with us before the hike to make sure we were ready for the summit attempt, and he was on time and very professional. Most of all he really took much of the uncertainty and anxiety out of this climb. Having climbed Pyramid many times, he knew practically every rock on the route. He set a great steady pace for us and chose the safest options to minimize the risk of rockfall. Safety was obviously his number one priority, and we summited early and got back off the mountain before the threat of weather. Having a guide really made this much more fun and enjoyable.

Trip: Pyramid Peak

Guide: Travis T.

Travis was great. He communicated with us, he sent a link about parking and his concerns about weather. He offered to start earlier than planned in hopes of avoiding the incoming weather. Unfortunately, we walked in a lot of rain, which really slowed me down, so when it was time to climb the "1000 ft of suck", I wasn't having much fun and feeling out of sorts...my signal that it is time to bail and try again another day.

Pyramid was my first technical 14'er and I'm glad I had Nate to take me up. He got me up and down safely and we were really lucky with the weather and views from the top.

Simi and Mike were absolutely amazing guides. While Pyramid was objectively the most difficult 14er we've done to date, they made it feel like one of the easiest.

Guide was changed to Nate. He was a great guide who is very knowledgeable about Pyramid Peak, plants, geology, and those nosy mountain goats. I had a blast doing this hike and would recommend Nate and Aspen Expeditions to anyone that asks.

This was a big challenge for me. Though I’ve climbed 45 14K’ers, I was really intimidated by the Class 4 climbs left on my list. I turned to Aspen Expeditions to help me make this big transition. Nate Rowland was an amazing guide. I can’t think of a safer mountain guide. He knew the route rock by rock, which allowed us reach the summit in five hours.

My son's climb with Nate was outstanding. It was my son's first experience with Class 4 terrain and tricky route-finding, and he and Nate did it under the threat of some potentially tough weather conditions. My son had a blast, and we'll definitely be returning to the Aspen area for more adventures with Nate and the great team at Aspen Expeditions. Thanks for the great time in the wilderness!
