Started in 2014 by Tim and Michelle Borland and their three kids, the Bar SZ Ranch is a true family business with a mission to help others “forge their legacy.” Set on 2200-acres in its own valley with iconic California oak trees and golden hills; views of the surrounding mountains and Pinnacles National Park; and painted, sunlit skies, this working ranch offers a unique, destination experience with grit.

Our family had an incredible time learning about caring for animals on the ranch! Michelle's love for the animals and the ranch was contagious, and my kids left wanting to work on a farm someday. She was so kind, enthusiastic, and patient sharing all aspects of farm life with us. This was one of the highlights of our trip and was perfect after a day of hiking and exploring caves at Pinnacles National Park!!

Our family had an amazing time shooting BB guns and doing archery with Tim! My Infantryman veteran husband was impressed by Tim's safety talk and instructions for using the BB guns, and now BB guns are at the top of our kids' wish lists. Tim was patient, informative, and answered all of our questions about the ranch. This was the perfect afternoon activity after spending the morning hiking and exploring the caves at Pinnacles National Park!

Just like the BB gun and archery experience, the animal feeding exceeded expectations. We got to feed, pet, and interact with every animal from the horses to rabbits and pigs, and even got to hold and pet kittens! Michelle was incredibly friendly and really made us feel like welcome guests, teaching us a lot about the animals and ranching. If you’re looking for a chill way to spend a bit of the day I’d highly recommend this experience.

This was a good time, especially for the kids who had never shot BB guns before. Tim gave a great safety pitch and instructions, and then you have more than enough time to shoot as many BBs as you want. Well worth it. In fact, my family and I booked to stay at the ranch just to visit Pinnacles. But, in hindsight, we could have booked to stay at the ranch just to hang around the ranch for a whole day, exploring and doing these activities.
