Trip: Flash Foxy - Intro to Outdoor Climbing - New Paltz, NY
Guide: Athe T., Vic F.
The intro to outdoor climbing was fenomenal. Athe and Vic were very patient and had a lot to teach. I went in not knowing how to belay and now I can belay. I’m honestly a baby climber but felt so comfortable and secure during this trip. Left with so much experience, knowledge and warmth in my heart. Will definitely book another tour.

Trip: KCC Bull Hill Hiking Day
Guide: Alexis K.
What an incredible trip! As a first-time hiker, I couldn't have asked for a better introduction to the trails. Alexis was informative, patient, and showed real care for every member of the group. She led us to some absolutely stunning views that I'll never forget. Whether you're just starting out or a seasoned hiker, I highly recommend Alexis without hesitation — she truly is the best!

This was a wonderful experience! Alexis was super knowledgeable about the area and I learned quite a bit about plants and how to stay safe. I’m so grateful for the experience and hope to be a support to others like she was for us!

It was a great trip! Genevive was supportive and informational. I learned a lot and she was very open to helping everyone at different levels. Having a smaller group was really nice. I will definitely do another trip!

Trip: Multipitch Climbing - Shawangunks
Guide: Alexis K.
I had the absolute BEST time with Alexis. I am so grateful that Rise Outside exists for folks like me! I’ve been climbing for 5 years and have slowly made my way towards learning how to multipitch. This is for a couple of reasons but one of the biggest is finding folks who can teach and mentor me in a way I feel safe, heard and respected. Climbing is a white, cis-male dominated sport in the states and as a brown gender queer indigi/latine person, I don’t always feel comfortable in climbing spaces. It’s important for me to find spaces where I can show up as my full self and that’s exactly how I felt during my guided day. Alexis was knowledgeable, moved at my pace, answered ALL my questions, helped me problem solve some potential tricky situations and spent the day teaching me exactly what I needed and asked for. Anyone who is able to learn from Alexis is very lucky and I’m sure the rest of RO’s guides are just as great as her. Thank you Rise Outside for being exactly what I needed! I hope one day I can be as great of a guide as Alexis :)

Trip: Rock and Snow Scholarship - Erin
Guide: Andy L.
Amazing day out with Andy! We were able to cover building gear anchors, working some mock leads, belaying from above, and reviewing rappelling! Andy was such a great guide, super thorough in explaining belaying from above which was a new technique for me! They were also provided useful and constructive feedback on my gear anchors and helped me work through my transitions where I was mostly about to take the lead while talking through the steps of what I was doing. Overall a great learning experience, where I felt safe, supported, and encouraged, alongside a day of climbing great routes!
