Max created a safe environment for me and our party to learn about how to use data to predict avalanche hazards (hypothesis), create routes to avoid those hazards (plan based on process and hypothesis), and make observations to check our processes and hypothesis. His combination of formal science discipline and backcountry experience made this a unique and positive experience. I'd recommend Alpine to the Max to anyone considering this kind of education

I had a great time taking this AIARE 1 course. Max was excellent and made learning about avalanche safety both informative and fun. The class was engaging, hands-on, and full of valuable takeaways that I’ll use every time I’m in the backcountry. I learned a lot and really enjoyed the experience, couldn’t recommend it more.
