Jones Pass Guides
About Us
Tucked in the heart of the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, skirting the Continental Divide, our terrain is nestled in the Arapahoe National Forest designated as the Jones Pass Wilderness. Operating in our permitted area of 2,600 acres with elevations from 10,500’ to 12,800’ we have access to three unique bowls with both touring and snowcat access. Terrain ranges from the following:
-
High Alpine Bowls
-
Gladed Meadows
-
Rock Bands
-
Open Chutes
-
Gullies
The high altitude combined with good Northern exposure keeps our snow cold and light. We have the powder, vertical and adventure for an epic backcountry experience.
Jones Pass Guides operates seven days a week and is one of the closest snowcat and touring operations located 45 minutes from Denver. Not sure about your skis for the trip, no worries, we have a fleet of demo skies including DPS, RMU, Black Crows, and Liberty options. In additional to the skis, we provide safety equipment incorporating a backpack, beacon, probe, and shovel. Additionally, we have a photographer that will be out with us to capture the stoke with shots available for purchase at the end of the day.
All trips will meet at our headquarters in Empire at 3 Park Ave. We ask our guests to arrive there at 8:00 to ensure a timely departure to our terrain. If other arrangements need to be made please reach out to coordinate. Our operation is in the zone by 9:30 and we are out of the zone and back to the trailhead by 3:30. While up in Jones, we strive to be safe, efficient, and timely to get you the most out of the experience as possible by maximizing our terrain. We average 9-12 runs per day and get plenty of vertical.
Lunches will be provided by Rudi’s Deli and water refill is available on the snowcat. A solid day out wouldn’t be complete without a end of the day après with refreshments at the end of the day, compliments of Steamworks Brewery.

Absolutely killer time with Jones Pass Guides! The whole crew was super friendly and knowledgeable, put our squad on the best runs, kept everyone stoked and safe, and generally just killed it all day. Would recommend this outfit to anyone looking for a genuine backcountry experience and maximum fun.

Some of the best runs of my life! Delia, Jake, Husky, Scott, Mojo and the entire Jones Pass crew were incredibly knowledgeable about all of the terrain and made sure that our entire crew was safe and had the time of our lives. It was one of our buddies' birthday celebration and they ensured that it was a special day and that the stoke level was through the roof the entire time. Aside from riding/skiing some of the best untouched backcountry runs Colorado has to offer, I think the Jones Pass crew is really what sets them apart from other tour guided backcountry companies. They all go above and beyond to make you and your entire crew feel right at home and make it as if they are part of the crew themselves with their personalities. Top notch staff, top notch terrain and top notch service...EVERYTHING is top notch at Jones Pass. The boys and I will definitely be back, hopefully sooner than later! Cheers guys, and thanks again for the incredible day! Yewww! - Bodi Duncan

What a great operation and amazing crew! We had a really fun day and everything was so well organized. Mojo is the best Director of Apres Ski ever, and our guides, Sham and Nick made our day fun and safe. Highly recommend this to anyone wanting to go into the backcountry for the first time or 10+th time!

Private trip with Delia and Jake driving in the Maverick. Was awesome. Both were extremely accommodating and made for a great day. Delia has great energy and was a good guide. Very enjoyable. It was well worth the splurge!

Great trip. Getting a dumping of dumping of snow with free refills certainly helped. The refrigerator of beer at the end was the icing on the cake. The only criticism I have is that there seemed to be a miscommunication regarding the snow cat and the private trip we were taking. We took our own vehicle to the trailhead and it appeared the lead guide was trying to coincide our trip with the end of the snowcat to be back at the same time. It turns out the snowcat returned later than , and we certainly had time for at least one more run. In conclusion, the trip was so great that we wanted to maximize the amount of runs. Our guides were professional and showed us the terrain we wanted. Marc even brought our skis from the car to the sxs at the parking area. This would have been easy enough for one of us to do, but it showed how accommodating they were. Husky knew the lay of the land like the back of his palm which made a huge difference when the visibility was low. We 'll be back.

Amazing time! The guided Nick, Brian, and Elise were amazing. Untouched fresh powder runs. Legs burned but well worth it! Highly, highly recommend.
