Jones Pass Guides
About Us
Tucked in the heart of the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, skirting the Continental Divide, our terrain is nestled in the Arapahoe National Forest designated as the Jones Pass Wilderness. Operating in our permitted area of 2,600 acres with elevations from 10,500’ to 12,800’ we have access to three unique bowls with both touring and snowcat access. Terrain ranges from the following:
-
High Alpine Bowls
-
Gladed Meadows
-
Rock Bands
-
Open Chutes
-
Gullies
The high altitude combined with good Northern exposure keeps our snow cold and light. We have the powder, vertical and adventure for an epic backcountry experience.
Jones Pass Guides operates seven days a week and is one of the closest snowcat and touring operations located 45 minutes from Denver. Not sure about your skis for the trip, no worries, we have a fleet of demo skies including DPS, RMU, Black Crows, and Liberty options. In additional to the skis, we provide safety equipment incorporating a backpack, beacon, probe, and shovel. Additionally, we have a photographer that will be out with us to capture the stoke with shots available for purchase at the end of the day.
All trips will meet at our headquarters in Empire at 3 Park Ave. We ask our guests to arrive there at 8:00 to ensure a timely departure to our terrain. If other arrangements need to be made please reach out to coordinate. Our operation is in the zone by 9:30 and we are out of the zone and back to the trailhead by 3:30. While up in Jones, we strive to be safe, efficient, and timely to get you the most out of the experience as possible by maximizing our terrain. We average 9-12 runs per day and get plenty of vertical.
Lunches will be provided by Rudi’s Deli and water refill is available on the snowcat. A solid day out wouldn’t be complete without a end of the day après with refreshments at the end of the day, compliments of Steamworks Brewery.

Jones Pass Guides are awesome!!! We had the most incredible experience skiing fresh powder all day long on a mountain that we had completely to ourselves. We were shredding pow until our legs literally couldn't hold us up anymore. The guides were so incredibly cool from the moment we pulled into the parking lot. They came flying out the door to say hi, gave us an awesome intro to backcountry skiing (our first ever) and were just as excited as we were about our experience. They were literally our cheerleaders all day long encouraging us while also giving excellent guidance in order to ensure safety. Jones Pass Guides exceeded our expectations and we will absolutely plan to make an annual stop here.

We were with Jones Pass Guides for 10 days of ski touring. Our group ranged from a max of 10 to as few as 2. This was our 6th trip into the zone with Jones Pass. The guides were all personable and knowledgeable. Safety was always the first priority. We had all kinds of weather. Full on winter to spring corn. The guides planned our days and got the most out of the zone dictated by weather and avalanche conditions. Always a great trip with Jones guides. We will be back again next year!

This was my 4th year, fifth trip, with multiple days per trip skiing with Jones Pass Guides! Mojo Lucas is a fantastic host and now a good friend. The staff as usual is first and foremost professional with safety at the forefront. They are also friendly, courteous, and fun but serious about keeping everyone out of harms way. Shout out to Danny, Scott, Delia, Nick, Husky, Elyse, Mark, Bonzo, and Jarrod this season. Sorry King, our paths never crossed this year! I wasn't the only repeat customer on the Cat. Skiied with Alan Samuel owner of Machine Gun Tours, Denver for the 3rd year in a row and he posted some great videos on his website and youtube again! Terrain is varied and conditions were great! Plenty of vert. and you WILL be tired at the day! Lunch on the cat is always good and we had some bluebird days as well. They dont kick you out of the van at the end of the day. Theres great craft beer and soft drinks and pizza Thanks guys and see you next year! Marcel aKa The Snow Wizard.
