Started in 2014 by Tim and Michelle Borland and their three kids, the Bar SZ Ranch is a true family business with a mission to help others “forge their legacy.” Set on 2200-acres in its own valley with iconic California oak trees and golden hills; views of the surrounding mountains and Pinnacles National Park; and painted, sunlit skies, this working ranch offers a unique, destination experience with grit.

Michelle, Tim, and their whole family were amazing hosts. We learned so much about their impressive working farm. Our trail ride was fantastic and Michelle is an excellent teacher, teaching us about the horses and instructing us how to groom them and saddle them up. Highly recommend!

Michelle, Tim and family went above and beyond showing my family around the ranch and introducing us to the animals. My daughter loves Easter egg hunts so Michelle and her daughter improvised to hide eggs in the henhouse so the children could find them. We met so many animals - different types of goats, sheep, rabbits; horses; rescued mustangs; guinea pigs; berkshire pigs; chickens; cows; dogs and cats (even kittens!) The Borlands went out of their way to ensure we had a good time and their love of animals is infectious!

I had a special privilege to visit the Bar SZ Ranch and had an incredible experience on a trail guided by Michelle at Bar SZ. All of her horses are exceptionally well-trained and calm. Michelle's patience and pleasant demeanor made me feel completely safe throughout the ride. I could see that all the animals at Bar SZ, including chickens, sheep, goats, cows, cats, and dogs, were well cared for and happy. The scenery was breathtaking, especially at night when we could admire the stars and shooting stars. Bar SZ Ranch is not just a place, it's a healing and soothing sanctuary, truly special for those who visit.

We absolutely loved our time and trail ride at Bar SZ ranch. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking. We really enjoyed the opportunity to learn about the horses and to help tack up, and even bridle and pick their hooves. The ranch has several other farm animals that are very approachable and friendly. Overall a 11/11 experience. Book a cabin, stay the weekend, and enjoy life at the ranch.

We had such a special time at the ranch! We stayed in the ranch house and did the animal feeding and trail ride experience. The house was incredibly comfortable for our family of 10, the scenery was beautiful and the Borlands were so kind and welcoming. The animal feeding experience was adorable and educational and fun for our whole crew (ages 9months - 61 years). We’d love to visit again and would recommend it to anyone.
