Trip: AIARE Level One

Guide: Max L.

Great course. Perfect level of fun and learning. Really helped me become more confident in situations that I just assumed were safe or ran from before. Now I can make educated decisions on if I should head in instead of just relying on stoke level

I just wrapped up the Avalanche AIARE course, and it was such a great experience! The instructors were not only super knowledgeable but also really fun and down-to-earth, which made the whole thing feel like a good time, not just a class. They kept things casual while still teaching us serious skills, and the hands-on practice in the field was super valuable. By the end of the course, I felt way more confident about avalanche safety and had a lot of laughs with both old friends and new ones. Highly recommend it if you're looking to learn and have fun with a solid crew!

Max was able to make an extremely important, serious and dangerous topic fun, engaging and educational. He has an incredible knowledge base on many outdoor topics that he is more than willing and capable of sharing.

Trip: AIARE Level One

I recently took an AIARE 1 course with Max as the instructor, and it was an exceptional experience. The course was well-structured with three days: two spent touring and one in the classroom. While some AIARE courses skip the classroom portion, I found it incredibly helpful in providing context and laying a strong foundation for understanding backcountry safety. As a climber first and a skier second, I appreciated how Max went out of his way to make the material accessible and relevant to my background, even though AIARE 1 is typically more skier-focused. During the touring days, Max offered invaluable insights into recognizing potential dangers and helped us develop the skills needed to make informed decisions in the backcountry. I highly recommend taking an AIARE course with Max. His expertise, clear teaching style, and ability to adapt to different backgrounds make him an outstanding instructor.
