The level 1 avy hut trip was incredible! Travis was a very thorough guide and answered all of our questions. The course was super information heavy (as it should be) and Travis made it as fun as it could have been! Would definitely recommend this trip to anyone looking to gain more experience in the backcountry and learn about/practice avalanche safety in real time.

This was an excellent trip. Travis was very knowledgeable, and did an excellent job at teaching and demonstrating the avalanche safety concepts we were there to learn about. It was especially appreciated how thorough he was, even when he was the only instructor on a trip that normally has two. The hut we stayed at was also a stunning venue that I really enjoyed. My suggestions for improvement would be to communicate a bit earlier that we were expected to bring all our own meals (not a problem, just good to know ahead of time), and similarly to release the pre-course reading earlier. Over the Christmas period it was hard to find time to read the material, but it is certainly valuable preparation. Similarly, I did not realize how important/utilized electronic mapping is in the backcountry. It would have been good to have a bit more heads up on this, so that we could come a little more prepared to the course and hut trip. Nonetheless, this was an excellent trip
