Trip: Mount Hood Singletrack

Guide: Lucas E., Garrett C.

My daughter and I just completed our first Western Spirit Cycling trip. From the guides to the food to the camp spot, everything was exceptional. The meals were delicious, fresh and highly nutritious( lots of veggies incorporated into whatever we were having as well as a green salad nightly and fresh fruit salad in the morning) The trails and riding were great with a nice variety of some challenging climbs, rolling rides and a fun downhill the last day. Luke and Garret were excellent guides and mature well beyond their years to lead a trip like this. Thanks for the great experience and we will be back for another trip in the future!

Trip: Backcountry Hot Springs

Guide: Ben L., Claire B.

Great trip. Claire and Ben were a great team. Only feedback would be to include a few more vegetarian protein options with some of the meals. Perhaps a few more bar options. Mini macadamia nut bars only available on the first day. Could have definitely eaten more on one of the days with just salad for lunch. Otherwise, overall excellent trip.

Trip: Yellowstone and the Gravely Range

Guide: Anna R., Chris P.

A great trip done with attention and care. We had rain each of the 5 days, including much of day 4. It didn’t faze Anna or Chris. They worked quite well together, making sure our needs were met under some challenging conditions.

Trip: Bryce to Zion Family

Guide: Claire B., Shane O.

Bryce to Zion family trip with Claire & Shane was stellar. The itinerary, support, fun at camp, and overall adventure was provided in a professional manner, while being absolutely enjoyable. I appreciated all of the Western Spirit routines - coffee call, hand washing stations, cold drinks, great food, challenging bike routes, and skilled guides. Plus our guides’ personal additions - Colton’s natural history, Chris’s games, Claire’s positivity (and technique pointers), Shane’s care and attention to detail, and Avery’s willingness to help out, made it even better. We had a phenomenal time, saw amazing sights, and loved the biking. As our 12 year old said when Claire noted there were no complaints from the kids, there was nothing to complain about!! Thank-you - it was a great trip from start (office support with booking) to finish. We hope to be back.

Trip: Colorado Singletrack

Guide: Colton W., Shane O.

Colorado single track was a great adventure with spectacular ride after spectacular ride. The beautiful alpine mountain scenery was only surpassed by the super bloom of wildflowers. The Western Spirit Guides were great at feeding and keeping us safe. what went right: great rides, food, water, bike maintenance, map briefings, regrouping, respect for the riders, sunscreen, morning java, group comraderie and positive energy, group safety. what i could do better: lower gears, ensure brakes were bled, better riding technique, better fitness what western spirit could do better: let the guests help cook or clean for one meal if they want to, provide camp activity such as horseshoes, cornhole, or archery crazy ideas: use drone to capture footage of riders and sell it to them, drive a massage therapist up to a midweek camp

Trip: Centennial Singletrack

Guide: Gus K., Will C.

Riding the Centennial Trail through the Black Hills was a new experience for the four riders on this tour. Gus and Will were fantastic hosts and guides, being quite knowledgeable about the route and the terrain it passes through. They made a point to get us into some very comfortable campsites, all with water for cleaning up after a hot and muggy day of riding. ( With the exception of our last night of primitive camping). A few of the sections of the Centennial Trail were not designed with mountain bikers in mind. Some sections were popular OHV routes which were pretty chewed up and dusty . Luckily, we’re we’re riding during the week when OHV a traffic was minimal. The boat ride and tour across Pactola Reservoir was a real treat and a great way to start the third days ride. Overall, the Centennial trail is first rate with many miles of flowy and demanding singletrack. Definitely not for the novice rider. I found the first days climbers the most demanding with steep punchy rock climbs which forced us to dismount and push our bikes through. Luckily, that was the worse sections of the entire route.
