I had an outstanding experience with Troy from Idaho Mountain Guides! Troy arrived at the crag well before the course started and had everything dialed in and ready to go, which set a great tone from the beginning. His teaching style was methodical and easy to follow, building concepts in a way that really made them stick. What stood out most was how he tailored the course to my specific goals—helping me become a more confident, knowledgeable, and reliable trad partner. He took the time to answer questions thoroughly and made sure I understood not just the “how,” but the “why” behind everything. I walked away feeling significantly more prepared, capable, and confident with placing trad gear, building trad anchors as well as some other basic anchor building (as I am a relatively new climber) and gave helpful recommendations on gear. I highly recommend Troy to anyone looking to have a fun day leveling up their climbing knowledge and skills!

Incredible first time rappelling! IMG was so flexible in setting up a trip outside their normal schedule as we were taking a trip that needed a more immediate rappelling class. Chandler was great, had gear ready and was very safety focused. The only suggestion I had was for a bit more introduction to vocabulary needed to understand the basics as well as some exposure and practice to knot tying. Regardless, I had so much fun and can't wait to get back out there! Thanks to Chandler and IMG!

Trip: Vertical View Gym 2 Crag

Guide:

Great experience if you're interested in learning what it takes to outdoor climb. We learned about required gear, how to set up and clean a climb, and all the safety checks and double checks. It would have been nice to have a second guide to get more hands on practice, but overall good experience. Chandler was a great teacher for the indoor portion and Ali made sure we all had a great and safe time outdoors!
