Trip: Flash Foxy: Trad Climbing 101 (New Paltz, NY)

Guide: Athe T., Alexis K.

Super knowledgeable guides that fostered a welcoming and inclusive environment for building the skills and headspace for a trad environment. Building a practice of holding space for yourself while climbing was incredibly impactful, especially when there are so many different ways to do things and different personal risk assessments. Absolutely would learn from these guides again.

Trip: Flash Foxy: Trad Climbing 101 (New Paltz, NY)

Guide: Athe T., Alexis K.

What an amazing weekend outside, I learned so much and felt so inspired by the warmth, curiosity, and generosity of Athe, Alexis, and my fellow climbers. I feel so much better equipped to make safe(r) decisions outside for all forms of roped climbing and finally feel equipped to be a useful follower in trad settings. I can’t wait to slowly start building my rack and placing placements on mock lead! This weekend felt like an alternate reality where all climbers are women or queer and so, so welcoming! It’s the only time I’ve left a climbing clinic feeling less overwhelmed, like I can actually see myself moving forward in the sport instead of being stuck. I am incredibly grateful to Rise, Flashy Foxy, and all of the individuals who came together to make this opportunity possible. Thank you!!!

Trip: BIPOC Climb and Camp Weekend - Gunks

Guide: Genevive W., Athe T.

Genevive and Athe were such knowledgeable and patient teachers whose climbing backgrounds complemented each other well. I felt physically safe and also psychologically safe learning in a space where I saw so much of myself reflected. This was a weekend of exploration, connection, holding, and joy. Major props to Genevive and Athe for cultivating this special community. I was surrounded by folks who kept the stoke high on a rainy Gunks weekend, were so eager to soak up new skills, and were passionate about uplifting their own communities.

Trip: Multipitch Half Day

Guide: Angelo U.

Our guide Angelo was the best guide we've met so far, he made it easy to clearly understand all information and climbing tips and staying safe! Maneuvering the location and finding available climbs and options while other climbers in the community were in queue for routes before us. Thanks for your time and your patience, making it a fun first visit in the Shawangunks!

Trip: Intro to Outdoor Rock Climbing: Half Day

Guide: Angelo U., Alexis K.

Thank you Alexis and Angelo—we had a blast! Both guides were incredibly friendly, supportive, and professional throughout the experience. Alexis really took the time to listen to our interests and even gave us a helpful intro to anchor setting, which made the day even more meaningful. The routes were beginner-friendly and fun to climb.Overall, a great experience and I’d definitely recommend this trip to anyone looking to try outdoor rock climbing!
