Disappointing! We thought we wild see finished structures and have hope that this was a very doable, affordable and earth friendly way to build and live but when all you see are long term unfinished projects and tours given by students who really cannot and should not be expected to give, very educated, precise and correct data on how the funding is done, statistics on what the costs are to build and run this sort of home, etc. you leave feeling discouraged! Many questions just stumped our poor guide and left us thinking that this type of build just isn’t anything we would consider doing! I want to add that we have had a “green” home building company for about 16 years and if we didn’t answer questions for people interested in our abilities or the costs associated with our builds and what the expected outcomes for running these homes are, we would never have lasted this long! I have suggested this tour to folks going to Taos but never again.

We have been interested in the concept of Earthships for years and enjoyed the tour.

It was great! I wish I could see even more variety of Earthships and if we could be taken to the different parts of what really makes an Earthship and have it explained in better detail. The family learns best in person or hands-on and if it could be more educationally kid-friendly that would be awesome! I wish all kids grew up with these concepts. Our tour guide was very nice and helpful. She could speak a little louder and with confidence. Also, I loved combining the tour with a weekend AirBnB Earthship. Overall, I’d do it again!

I love the earthship concept and was excited to take the tour to learn more about them and see inside them. The lecture was very informative and the person giving it was smart and nice. They didn’t know everything but they were able to answer most of our questions. The visitor center was great too. The reason I’m giving it 3 stars only is that the Earthships that you tour are not great. We were lucky enough to have stayed in a beautiful and updated Earthship for two nights. If all we had seen were the more shabby and smelly Earthships we might had thought that they were not for us. If you are trying to get people to adapt Earthships- buy land and hire your contractors, why are you not showing them nice Earthships with a living space layout? We only saw a office Earthship and it was older and not very nice. People who are into camping style living will be into it but not everyone is. I love Earthships and think they should be everywhere! It’s a missed opportunity.
