I decided to book a guide for this hike very last minute and it was a good decision. It allowed me to relax beforehand about the whole thing.... plus it was his idea to get to the trailhead at 2 a.m. which ended up being very smart. Alex was a really good guide for me. He was always there to offer support when needed--sometimes literal physical support--but also allowed me to do my own thing as long as I could do it safely. Also, I hadn't even thought about this in advance, but he was able to photodocument my ascent--which my family is so grateful for, they all wanted to see pics!
