I spent two days tuning my movement on ice. Placing protection and eventually leading a route. The course was a fluid learning environment, catering to the skills *we* brought to it, under the supervision of our expert instructors. Our small group (2) was set up alongside another MMG group working with another guide. This allowed us to safely hop on many different routes. Special thanks to Chris and Laurie for making it a great weekend! The course absolutely met my expectations. This is 4th event with MMG and I am always pleased with each and every instructor I’ve been mentored by with the team at MMG. If you’re reading this and have never hired a guide, I think it can be daunting to invest in yourself but it is more than worth it when you seek qualified instruction via MMG.

I had never been ice climbing before. Chris took us up to Kinsman‘s Notch to go climbing. The whole experience far exceeded my expectations and I am excited to go ice climbing again. Chris is a knowledgeable and experienced guide and really takes the time to teach you the basics. I would highly recommend Chris as a guide as he made sure we had a great time!

I took a Learn to Lead on Ice class with Mooney Mountain Guides and had an incredible experience. Our lead guide Chris was thorough and thoughtful throughout the entire day, making sure we understood each concept before moving forward. The progression was perfect - we learned how to read ice conditions, place screws, practice mock leading, and finally lead our first route. Our assistant guide Jack was super helpful and supportive every step of the way. Even though we only met Alex briefly, he took the time to give me an amazing step-by-step breakdown of anchor systems that really clicked. I loved every bit of this class and would 100% recommend Mooney Guides to anyone looking to develop their ice climbing skills. The entire team clearly cares about both accessing risk and helping students progress confidently.

I had an excellent experience! It was my first time ever rock climbing, and I started off quite nervous, but Chris was so knowledgeable, experienced, and personable that he made me feel very safe. I had SO much fun and will definitely be doing this again!
