Carter Hanson

About me

Carter discovered climbing in Des Moines, Iowa and quickly became immersed in the sport. After joining the University of Northern Iowa’s outdoor trips program as a coordinator, Carter has led multiple nonprofit climbing trips to destinations like Red River Gorge, New River Gorge, New Mexico, Colorado, and Arkansas. Carter has worked with youth at summer camps in Maine and New Hampshire, leading adventure and backcountry trips. He is passionate about helping others push their limits, grow individually, and connect with nature. Now branching out to Colorado, Carter is excited to take on new challenges as a Single Pitch Instructor (SPI) . He thrives in the solitude of the backcountry and is always looking for opportunities to learn and share his knowledge. When not climbing, Carter enjoys exploring new places, embracing the unknown, and spending time in nature.
