About me
I was born and raised in West Virginia and found the outdoors from a young age. I grew up playing in the woods, building forts, and generally goofing off. It wasn't until I was in college that I found climbing while on a trip to the New River Gorge, and I haven't really looked back. After college, I served as an officer in the US Army, and continued to climb on and off when I could. After leaving the Army in 2021, I started to pursue climbing more vigorously, and also started to get into guiding, pursuing AMGA certifications and training. I have worked on Mt Baker in Washington State and in New Hampshire for Eastern Mountain Sports. I founded Small Cliffs Guiding in 2024 to give people a guide service in Connecticut that was people focused, approachable, and provided the best education and experiential opportunities around. Choosing a guide to take you out into the wilderness is a huge decision, and I strive to provide a service that is well worth your time and money. I look forward to climbing with you!Certifications

Andy was all you could ask for when booking a guide. He made sure every person succeeded regardless of skill-set. He’s a gritty, enthusiastic, awesome guy and will be booking again next season for Mt. Washington once again. He says “did we make smart choices or did we get lucky”, meaning he always puts the safety of the group first.

Everything was perfect. Andy (our guide) was competent, aware of the environnement and funny. The winter ascent of mount Washington was challenging but the group felt safe and we learned a lot of thing about mountaineering. We were beginners with hiking experience and it was a great activity to push ourselves. The rental material was in perfect condition. 10/10 would recommend !
