Duration

Conveniently located within an hour drive of Durango, Telluride, and Cortez.  Easy walking access to the water filled with nice structure and deep pockets. There is also great public water adjacent to the ranch that is much more easily accessed from the Flying R. You can expect to find Browns, Rainbows and even Cutthroat in the river. A variety of insect life can also be found there including Stoneflies, Caddis and Mayflies. Terrestrials and streamers have also been found to be effective depending on the season.

This locale is right in between Rico and Dolores, with lush pastures, pine forest and beautiful red sandstone cliffs. It feels remote, but in only 20 minutes you can be in the quaint town of Dolores to grab a beer and lunch at one of the local establishments. A quick trip back and you’ll be ready to hit the evening hatch. Hatches in the area include midges, BWO, stoneflies, caddis, PMDs, and last but not least…Salmonflies.

In addition to being a great fishing destination, the Redburn Flying R Ranch is a working cattle ranch, producing beef served at many local restaurants. The ranch has been in the Redburn family for three generations and is still being operated by the grandson of the original owner. Two generations currently live on the property and they are happy to welcome anglers to their private paradise.
