Is Chris the right guide for you?
Chris fully embraces the ethos that the best climber is the one having the most fun. “It may sound cliched, but life is meant to be enjoyed and appreciating the process of achieving your climbing goals can be just as important and meaningful as achieving the goals themselves. I believe that appreciating that balance is really the key to succeeding in climbing.”
As a guide, Chris brings his years of personal climbing experience, along with his passion and excitement for the sport, to offer customized climbing experiences that focus on risk reduction, acquisition of technical skills and most of all, enjoyment. Whether it is your first outdoor experience on rock or ice, your first lead or your first multi-pitch, you will leave a day spent climbing with Chris exhausted with a lot of good memories, and a desire to come back, learn more, and experience even greater and greater adventures.
Growing up in rural New York, Chris often escaped to his local crag – the Shawangunks – to go rock climbing. What began as a strong interest soon blossomed into a full-blown passion and later into a career in the outdoor industry. In the 1990s, Chris worked as a sales manager at Sterling Rope and later as a category buyer at Eastern Mountain Sports. In 2005, he purchased the Boston Rock Gym – the second oldest climbing gym in the United States –which he operated until its closure in 2020. Since then, Chris has served as a climbing guide, and as a consultant to the climbing industry and has worked with several climbing organizations in a variety of roles including the American Alpine Club and the Rumney Climber's Association. He has been a professional member of the American Mountain Guides Association since the 1990s.
