SHIT HAPPENS, CAN YOU SOLVE THE PROBLEM?
Smile's Two Day Rock Rescue Series solves the what-ifs of multi-pitch climbing.
Day one focuses on building strong skill foundations in top belaying, climber assists, device manipulation for lowers, the concept of baseline, rappelling, and ascending a line.
Students will focus on skills individually with many live practice scenarios.
Day two will build on skills from day one and add rappel rescue skills into our “toolkit”.
Students will then move into a complex rock environment and incorporate skills learned into a rock rescue drill.
This drill is intended to push students to work in a complex environment incorporating a combination of skills together, building an ability to critically think about possible solutions.
*This drill is structured off of the AMGA Rock Rescue Drill used to assess guides in the ability to solve problems in a complex rescue scenario.
WE WILL FOCUS ON:
+Climber assists including, raising systems.
+Rappelling and ascending a fixed line
+Baseline, a simple starting solution.
+Weight transfers including knot passes.
+Technical descent rescues including, tandem rappels and counter-balanced rappels.
+Releasable temporary ledges aka the spider.
This Rock Rescue Series can be an intense amount of technical information. Students must come prepared with a baseline understanding of knots, hitches, and top belay skills.

PROTECT YOUR INVESTMENT
No one expects to get injured, sick, or have a family emergency the week prior to a trip, but it happens.
To protect from unforeseen circumstances that may lead to a cancellation and a loss of investment we suggest that guests purchase trip protection insurance.
We also strongly urge you to consider rescue and evacuation insurance for our programs operating in remote areas, such as Rocky Mountain National Park and the North Cascades.
If you choose not to purchase insurance, you assume full responsibility for any expenses incurred in the event of a medical emergency and/or evacuation, as well as for trip cancellation, interruption, lost luggage, etc. We are not the experts and therefore ask that you please consult our travel insurance partner directly with any specific questions.
To protect against losses due to illness, accident, or other unforeseen circumstances, Smile Mountain Guides strongly recommends the purchase of travel insurance as soon as possible after making a deposit. Redpoint Resolutions is our preferred travel insurance provider. Redpoint’s Ripcord Rescue Travel Insurance™ is designed for adventurers and can customize your protection to your needs.
