Is Laurie the right guide for you? Laurie believes that guiding is about facilitating opportunities for the profound self discovery that comes with stepping outside your comfort zone in the environments of rock crags, ice cliffs and mountains. This self discovery can take the form of new body movement patterns, gaining technical skills and independence, or achieving objectives previously thought impossible.
A thirty year career as a Physical Therapist provided Laurie with an extensive knowledge of how the body works, effective training methods and the crucial mind-body connection. Through her work and life experiences, Laurie has gained a compassionate understanding of fear and trauma and how that effects trying new things like climbing. She brings this perspective to her guiding and instruction so that your process is well supported.
While Laurie hiked and skied as a kid, she did not start exploring mountaineering and climbing until well into her forties. In 2012 she became a guest of MMG, just like you, booking MMG guides for rock climbing, ice climbing and mountaineering. She dove deeper into the world of climbing with each day out. Then when her children were off to college and the nest was empty Laurie began the arduous process of training to become a guide. She began professionally guiding in 2018, as a member of the MMG team. Laurie now works full time and year round for MMG here in NH and in the Pacific Northwest.
