2000ft incline to an outstanding view of the entire Grand Valley overlooking Grand Junction. First couple 100ft is a very steep incline. After it levels out the rest of the hike is a gradual incline where wild horse are often seen. At this point off the trail but still visible from, there is an old coal mine from the early 1900's. If interested, I would be more than happy to take you up close and personal for you to grasp a piece of history. There is some mild rock climbing before the summit but is safe for even a child of at least 8 years old. Once you have reach the American flag you know you have reached the summit where you will have a 360° view of The Grand Valley. Total distance from bottom to top is only 2 miles but a very strenuous 2 miles so be prepared. Wild horses also like to roam near the summit so the chances of seeing them are very likely.
