Experience Colorado's backcountry and summit one of her most beautiful and less-traveled peaks. We will leave from Vail in the morning and carpool to the trailhead. Day 1, we will crest the 11,000 ft Half-Moon Pass as Mt. of the Holy Cross comes into view. After about 3.5 miles, we will enjoy the sunset over a hot meal next to a bubbling creek, and camp for the night. Day 2, we will wake up at dawn and trek for the summit of Mt. of the Holy Cross (weather-permitting). We will arrive back at camp mid-day, pack up, and backpack out enjoying the valley views. This is a strenuous hike that is 12 miles total. Acclimation to Colorado's altitude is highly recommended for a few days prior to your trip.

About Me: My sister took my on my first backpacking trip when I was 15, and I was instantly hooked. There's no better feeling than solitude, self-reliance, and the beauty of fresh mountain air. I've climbed multiple 14ers, taken on the backcountry solo, and led backpacking trips up to 26 miles. The backcountry can be intimidating if you're just getting started, but it's not out of reach. Let me take some of the guesswork out of it so you can fully enjoy the adventure.
