An excellent intro to backpacking week in Bear's Ears National Monument. Renowned for its beautiful sandstone canyons and high density of Native American Cultural sites. We'll spend days hiking through the canyons, exploring cliffside dwellings, and enjoying the solitude of the canyons. Nights under the stars in one of the most remote spots in the lower 48.
Fitness & experience level
This trip is designed for a wide range of experience levels, from first-time backpackers to seasoned hikers. The
total distance is approximately 15 miles over three backpacking days — a comfortable pace that allows for
exploration, rest, and wonder. KMAC guides will ensure no one is left behind or overwhelmed.
Yoga with Gabriella
Yoga sessions are offered daily and entirely optional. Sessions are designed for all levels and are specifically
calibrated to the physical demands of the day — energizing before trail days, restorative after big miles. No mat
needed in the backcountry; the earth works perfectly.
Community & connection
Structured community moments like the opening circle, evening campfire stories, optional solo sits, journaling
prompts, and a closing circle on the final evening are woven throughout the week. These are not add-ons. They
are the point. Women in Wild Places has always been about giving women language for what the outdoors gives
them. This week is that, lived.
Cultural sites & responsibility
Bears Ears National Monument contains thousands of Ancestral Puebloan sites, many of which remain sacred to
living Indigenous nations. A significant part of this trip is learning to be a respectful, informed visitor. Your KMAC
guides and the Bears Ears rangers will prepare you to engage with these places with the care they deserve.
