Rock Climbing - Full Day (Tahquitz & Suicide Rock)

Group Size

3 people per guide

Duration

8 hours

Tahquitz & Suicide Rock are another favorite among the Golden State Guiding family due to it's Yosemite style climbing and long standing history (Royal Robbins did the first free ascent of the grade 5.9 here on a route he called the Open Book). Known for it's long, traditional multi-pitch routes, this venue hosts an array of spectacular splitter granite climbing combined with heady run-outs on pristine slab. The most commonly climbed route is the "Trough" coming in at 5.4 which is a great intro into traditional multi-pitch climbing but there is no shortage of moderate to difficult routes spread among the granite face of Tahquitz & Suicide Rock. Typically climbed in the Spring to Fall months, Tahquitz & Suicide Rock are both located in the small mountain town of Idyllwild, CA at an elevation of 5400' so winter climbing is not recommended unless you're looking to get on some ice which is very much a sought after activity for the local climbers.
