Equinox Guiding Service is a professional rock and ice climbing guide service based in Camden, Maine. We offer guided climbing experiences and instruction throughout Midcoast Maine and the Acadia region, working with beginners, families, and experienced climbers alike. All trips are led by AMGA-certified instructors and are tailored to conditions, experience level, and individual goals.
Warm winter clothing suitable for a full day outdoors
Moisture-wicking base layers (synthetic or wool)
Insulating mid-layer (fleece or light puffy)
Warm insulated jacket (parka or heavy puffy for belays)
Waterproof / windproof outer shell (jacket & pants)
Insulated winter boots compatible with crampons
Stiff hiking or mountaineering boots (no soft snow boots)
Gloves – 2–3 pairs minimum
One dexterous pair for climbing
One or two warm belay pairs (they will get wet)
Warm hat and/or balaclava / neck gaiter
Wool or synthetic socks (extra pair recommended)
Daypack to carry personal items
Water (insulated bottle recommended)
Lunch and high-energy snacks
Warm drink (tea or soup in a thermos is highly recommended)
Sunglasses and sunscreen
Personal medications (inhaler, EpiPen, etc., if applicable)
All technical ice climbing equipment — including helmet, harness, ropes, ice tools, crampons, and belay devices — is provided by Equinox Guiding Service.
If you have your own ice climbing boots or personal gear you prefer to use, feel free to bring them. If you’re missing key clothing or equipment, please reach out ahead of time — I may be able to help fill in gaps.
Full payment is required at booking. Cancellations made 30 days or more before your scheduled trip are eligible for a refund minus a 4% administrative fee. Cancellations made less than 30 days before the trip will receive a credit toward a future reservation within the same season. Cancellations or no-shows within 48 hours of the trip are non-refundable. Trips run rain or shine, and plans may be adjusted based on weather or conditions.

We ask that participants arrive healthy and able to participate safely. If you are feeling unwell, experiencing symptoms of illness, or have tested positive for COVID-19 shortly before your trip, please contact us as soon as possible so we can discuss options.
We’re happy to work with you to reschedule when feasible. Our guides may adjust logistics or meeting plans as needed to prioritize the well-being of everyone involved.
