The 3 Day Devils Tower Experience is the most versatile of our standard trips and maximizes your climbing trip to Devils Tower. Each trip itinerary can be customized to provide the best experience possible & remains flexible throughout each day.

All trips are private & we can provide all the necessary technical equipment with no rental fee. 

 

Day 1: Training Day.

The day will start at our headquarters located at Devils Tower Lodge. You will be outfitted with all the necessary equipment for the trip. If you are bringing some personal gear your guide will inspect the equipment to ensure it is in proper working order.

After outfitting you will drive 1 mile to the main parking area for Devils Tower National Monument. You will hike to the base of the Tower with your guide and begin climbing & working on skills.  Some of the skills covered include:

• Crack climbing techniques
• How to clean traditional protection
• Multipitch systems & efficiency
• Rappelling tactics
• Belay techniques

The goal for the day is to get climbers familiar with their roles in the team & have them feeling prepared for the summit day. 

 

Day 2: Summit Day

The summit day starts early to provide climbers with the best conditions. Start times vary throughout the season. Climbers will hike to the base and begin their ascent with the goal of standing on top. There are places to stop & rest throughout the climb. Once on top we will rest, take in the view and accomplishment before starting the rappel down. 

Round trip times vary greatly but average around 8 hours.

 

Day 3: Options

Popular options for the third day include:

• Climbing a variety of 1 & two pitch routes around the Tower. Working on harder routes without the worry of burning out before your summit climb.
• Climbing a different route to the Summit
• Having a clinic day where you can learn new skills that you can apply to your personal climbing career. 
• Climbing in the Needles of Custer State Park in nearby South Dakota. These amazing granite spires, ranging from 30ft to over 300ft, are high adventure with lots of route options.

If you really want to make the most of a trip to our area the 3 Day Devils Tower Experience is the best option.

There is a maximum ratio of 2 climbers per guide. If you have a group larger than 2, another guide will be assigned to your team. This low ratio provides the highest level of care, instruction & efficiency.
