Intro to Table Top Jumps and Drops

Take flight with intentional skills

Have you been eyeing the great jumps and drops at bike parks in the region and wonder: How do you even start doing that? Rather than just launching down the trail and hoping for the best, wouldn’t be awesome if you had a plan and understanding of the elemental skills needed to jump in control?

Maybe you are already hitting the jump lines or riding off drops but are having inconsistent outcomes. Sometimes it goes fine, but other times it feels weird and out of control.

This intro to table tops and drops clinic is designed to teach you the skills needed to evaluate the size and shape of any jump or drop and understand how to tweak your skill application based on your speed. “Press” and “Absorb” are the elemental skills. We’ll teach you how to do each one, when and how much to apply them. Let’s make YOU the driver in control of taking flight.

Who should take this clinic:

  • This clinic is for all genders.

  • This clinic is appropriate for all level riders wanting to learn the fundamentals of jumps and drops with more intention, control, and confidence.

  • Riders who have never had their wheels off the ground will learn proper technique to get started, get PLENTY of repeatable practice on smaller jumps and drops

  • Intermediate level jumpers will benefit from going back to basics, refining the essential fundamentals to jump and drop with control.

Who are the instructors?

  • Josh Whitmore - GSMBC Level 4 + Head Coach
  • Misty Mahoy - All About Balance head coach

What to expect:

  • We’ll start with an intro to listen to your previous experience and goals, then set expectations and a plan for the clinic

  • Then, we’ll move into a skills assessment and move through the essential pre-requisite skills including Body Position / Balance and creating effective “Press and Absorb” technique in an open area and on a practice jump and small drop

  • After some practice on a single jump and drop, we'll aim to session some of the other jumps and drops in the area.
