About
Bumping up to our 6 hour climbing day is a recommendation we make to most of our guests. 6 hours allows us more flexibility to hike to larger cliffs with more climbs and greater views of the Estes Valley and Rocky Mountain National Park. For beginners or experienced climbers, the 6 hour day offers enough time to work on technical skills or dial in your outdoor rock movement skills.
What's Included
- AMGA Certified Instructor
- All necessary climbing gear and equipment
What to Bring
-
Synthetic Activewear Top (Our guides like lightweight long sleeve shirts for sun protection while on the cliff. Synthetic t-shirts are fine as well.)
-
Synthetic Pants/Shorts (For all climbing activities we do recommend pants instead of shorts to help protect legs from abrasions against rocks while climbing, to provide a level of warmth in case of storms and to protect from the sun.)
-
Warm Fleece or Light Puffy Layer
-
Waterproof Rain Layer
-
Light Trail Shoes or Hiking Boots (Approach shoes are great too)
-
Sun Hat/Ball Cap
-
Light Leather Gloves (optional but can be nice for belaying)
-
Sunglasses
-
Food for 3-7 hours of physical activity
-
1.5 - 2 liters of water
-
Personal Care Kit (Sunscreen, SPF lip balm, small personal first aid kit, any medications you may need)
-
20 - 35L Backpack - Pack needs to be able to fit all your personal gear inside of it, including water bottles. Any gear on the outside of a pack creates a potential falling object hazard that guides will not allow.
-
If you enjoy your trip, a gratuity for your guide! (Venmo/Cash is most popular)
Technical Gear: All technical safety gear is included as a rental in your trip with KMAC Guides. If you have your own safety gear and would like to bring it that is fine, please refer to the list below for required safety gear. Please bring personal safety gear into the office with you when you start your trip so the guide can check it.
-
Climbing Harness (Less than 10 years old in clean, working condition. No ultra-light glacier or ski harnesses please)
-
Climbing Helmet (UIAA approved, no cracks or signs of major damage)
-
Rock Climbing Shoes
-
Chalk Bag
-
ATC or Gri-Gri Style Belay Device (Or both)
