Looking to fast-track your backcountry skills but not sure where to start? This immersive three-day experience is for you.

An Intro to Backcountry tour or AST1 is a great beginning, but real growth comes from time on snow, in varied conditions, learning by doing.

Over three full days, you'll join a small group and be guided by an expert K7 guide through different backcountry zones in the Snowy Mountains. Each day begins and ends in Jindabyne, with transport to the trailhead included.

You’ll follow your guide’s full daily routine, from interpreting mountain weather and avalanche forecasts to selecting terrain, setting group expectations, and managing safe travel throughout the day.

This flexible immersion adapts to your pace and goals. You'll begin with foundational touring techniques and, as your confidence grows, progress to more advanced skills.

You’ll also gain:
• A deeper understanding of how to approach backcountry touring
• Hands-on experience in real decision-making scenarios
• An expanded mental map of the Main Range terrain
• A supportive community of like-minded tourers

Inclusions:
• Daily transport from Jindabyne to trailhead and back
• Fully guided experience (7am–4pm each day)
• Avalanche safety gear (beacon, shovel, probe)
• K7 avalanche pack hire
• Professional photo package from the tour
• K7 extras to make your experience more comfortable on and off the snow

Step into the backcountry with purpose. Build skills, confidence and mountain sense one tour at a time.
