This is one of my favorite fisheries. Ocean salmon in the summer can be action packed! Big bright and powerful, the chinook hang off the mouth of the Columbia gorging on herring, anchovies, and whatever else they can eat before heading upriver. In the meantime the coho prowl in wolf packs, searching for anything that moves in order to fill their insatiable appetite. Triple and quad hookups are not out of the question when one of these packs start to chase down our gear.
Combine this with a bottom fishing option and crab for an extended trip and even more opportunities to get a fish on the line

What to bring
Fishing Licenses and Tags
You are responsible for having the correct licenses and tags for any planned fishing. Licenses and tags for Oregon and Washington can be purchased online.
Dress for the Weather, and Then Some
Our area is known for cool, wet winters and springs with generally dry and sunny summer and fall days. With that said, even on a sunny day the winds can kick up or the wake from another boat can throw spray on you. Dressing in layers with a waterproof exterior can help make sure that you are able to enjoy yourself even when conditions turn a bit ugly.
Lotion type Sunscreen
A lotion type sunscreen is recommended, even if it’s going to be cold out. The water reflects sun back at you, even on a cloudy day. Please avoid spray-on sunscreens. These can drift onto our fishing gear and repel fish.
Food, Drink, and Snacks!
There’s nothing like a hot cup of coffee while waiting for an even hotter fish to bite, or sharing snacks with friends. That’s why you should bring some! Trips usually last through lunch time so make sure you bring a few things to eat and plenty of water. Food and drinks are not provided as part of your trip.
Medications
Please bring any prescription or non-prescription medications that you take or carry regularly. Seasickness medication such as Meclizine is highly recommended. If you may need things like insulin, asthma inhalers, or emergency allergy medication please make sure to bring these with you, we cannot stock these on the boat due to FDA prescription requirements. It’s better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
Prepare for Parking
The port of Astoria charges a $10 per day parking fee that can be paid at the kiosk in the parking lot.
