Your climbing skills are advancing, and you are having fun! Learning how to trad climb will open up an entire new climbing world to you. This course teaches you how to build basic anchors and place protection using nuts, cams, and other protective gear. This 4-hour course will teach you the best practices for traditional climbing. You will learn how to set up EARNEST anchors using a variety of gear as well as natural features including cracks & boulders. Our focus is to provide you with the resources needed to be able to climb on your own. We emphasize safety and hands-on skill practice, getting you one step closer to setting up top ropes safely. This will set you on the path of climbing independently with confidence. You will learn how to determine what gear to carry, how to place and use cams, nuts, and natural anchors, basic rope management, belaying from the anchor, route planning, and developing a “trad climbing mindset.”
