AZWCC | Climb + Campout in Cochise Stronghold

Location

Tombstone, Arizona

Group Size

6 people per guide

Duration

2 days

The local single-pitch crag has been treating you well, but there are these photos you've seen of long, enduring routes in beautiful landscapes. Specifically, towering domes emerging out of Southern Arizona's gorgeous grasslands. Welcome to Cochise Stronghold, located in the Dragoon Mountains and ancestorial lands of the Chiricahua Apache and O'odham Jewed.

Our two-day AZWCC Retreat in Cochise Stronghold is designed for those who have already had the opportunity to climb outdoors in the single-pitch environment. This can be with GMG on your own recreationally. Due to the nature of this remote Southern Arizona landscape, we work extensively with our guests ahead of time to ensure that they are well-prepared and set up for success!

Whether you are familiar with Sport Climbing or Traditional Climbing, this Trip can be tailored to suit your goals. Here is a brief itinerary for the weekend:

~Day 1~

Arrive at West Cochise Stronghold and meet your Guide at Middlemarch Rd/FS 687 intersection. After which a higher-clearance vehicle is recommended for the final 2mi stretch.

Get acquainted with the campsite while setting up your tent equipment, and welcoming new friends as individuals arrive this evening.

No group dinner will be provided, but stovetop and water will be available for all.

~Day 2~

First day of climbing!

There are over 100 routes within walking distance of the camp, so the options are plentiful to experience something for everyone.

After a full day of climbing and relaxation, the group will caravan to Tombstone, AZ for a group dinner.

~Day 3~

Second day of climbing, with added option of exploration!

There is so much to see and experience in Cochise Stronghold that we do all that we can to showcase a good sample of this unique landscape to everyone. This day will be full of fun climbing and learning about the history of the area.

After another full day of climbing, the group will reconvene before farewells in the late afternoon.

This AZWCC x GMG Climb + Campout is hosted in a Dispersed Camp Site. There will be no running water or designated restrooms nearby. However, GMG will have temporary facilities available for guests to use.

Camping equipment is available to rent - just include it as an "add on" at checkout.

Presta Coffee, Tea, and light breakfast will be provided each morning. Guests should plan to bring their own snacks and lunches for each day.
