This AIARE 1 is a three-day course that provides an introduction to using decision-making tools to help a group manage risk while traveling in avalanche terrain. This course package includes the use of one Ski Doo Summit or Polaris RMK snowmobile for the two field days with transportation of the machines managed Powder Pro Lab.

8 hours of classroom learning in downtown Leadville on day 1. Followed by 2 entire days in the backcountry traveling the San Isabel National Forest while we implement and practice industry standards to manage groups and identify avalanche terrain.

What to bring

Required Equipment for Course Participation: * demos provided )

  1. Snowmobile* (must present valid state drivers license)

  2. Snowmobile Helmet* (DOT/ rated)

  3. Backpack* (winter specific)

  4. Transceiver* (≤ 5 yrs. old, 3 antenna)

  5. Avalanche Probe* (pull-snaplock systemmeasurement markings)

  6. Avalanche rescue shovel* (steel, aluminum)

  7. Warm layers/ clothing (base layer, mid-layer, waterproof shell)

  8. 2 pair gloves (riding & extra warm)

  9. Goggles & Sunglasses (light & dark lenses)

  10. Lunch/ Snacks/ Water (~1L)

Recommended Equipment:

  1. FRS/ Two-Way Radio (bca link, rockie talkie, baofeng, etc.)

  2. Handheld Compass & GPS Navigation Device (garmin in-reach, phone/app with caltopo, onX, etc.)

  3. 1st Aid-Kit (basic trauma & environmental emergency)

  4. Equipment Repair Kit (basic)

  5. Survival Kit (firestarter, cordlette, knife, headlamp, bivouac, etc.)

A full payment has been made to hold your reservation, this does not guarantee that the course/clinic and/or service will commence and may be subject to cancellation due to weather, lack of participants, catastrophic events and any other reason that Powder Pro Lab Ltd. deems necessary to cancel, delay or reschedule of which you will be notified and/ or refunded in full. You have the right to cancel with a full refund up to 72 hours prior to start date, otherwise you will be charged the entire fee if cancellation occurs less than 72 hours to the start date of your registered course, service and/or offering.
