"Jumbo Shrimp" Cornering Clinic
Smooth out your cornering to speed up.
Do you get hung up and lose speed on the corners of Jumbo Shrimp? Learn how to use body position, pressure control and brake application to smooth out and speed up your cornering!
We’ll cover the following skills: body position & weight distribution, braking, and line choice. We’ll start by separating each one out to introduce and practice by themselves before putting them back together. We’ll also investigate the skills of inclination (leaning), angulation (bike/body separation), and rotation and how to treat those like “dimmer switches” to turn up or down depending on the shape, size, and speed of each corner.
Who should take this clinic?
-
This all-gender clinic is appropriate for all level riders who are already comfortable riding intermediate level (blue rated) trails and want to improve their cornering skills, especially for the Jumbo Shrimp trail at Rocky Knob
-
Riders who feel static and fixed with their body position while cornering and want to work on being intentionally more mobile and dynamic
-
Riders who want to carry more speed, more efficiently, specifically exit speed.
-
Riders who always feel like they are doing something wrong in corners and want to achieve more flow.
-
Racers who want free speed without more effort
Who are the instructors?
- Kristian Jackson- PMBIA Level 4 + Rocky Knob Trail Boss
- Josh Whitmore - PMBIA Level 3 + Head Coach
What to expect:
-
We’ll start with an intro to listen to your previous experience and goals, then set expectations and a plan for the clinic
-
Then, we’ll move into a skills assessment and move through an introduction to body position, braking, and line choice while sessioning some corners before putting that together on some longer stretches of trail to practice.
-
We’ll spend time in an open area with some cones investigating inclination, angulation, and rotation before putting those into practice on the mountain.
-
Expect practice time in an open area with cones, and lots of laps sessionable corners on Jumbo Shrimp
-
We’ll endeavor to offer lots of individual feedback and video analysis.
