Are you a coach wanting to expand your mountain bike skills instruction knowledge and ability? Maybe you’ve already taken the PMBIA Level 1 instructor course and are looking for more curriculum, example lessons, and content?
Maybe you're a NICA coach aiming to more effecively help your riders with bike driving skills.
Perhaps you are curious about mountain bike skills coaching and want an introduction to the common methodology and pedagogy of professional mountain bike coaches.
Join us for this 2-session (Saturday and Sunday afternoons) for a professional development opportunity you don’t want to miss!
One registration is for BOTH days.
Who should take this clinic?
-
This all-gender clinic is appropriate for riders who are at least strong beginners, already riding blue rated trails in the region.
-
PMBIA Certified Coaches will learn some common curriculum beyond the example lessons in the Level 1 course, things you can teach within your scope of practice.
-
NICA coaches will level up thier ability to help riders with riding skills by understanding and practicing a proven methodology that facilites skills learning.
-
Those interested in exploring what mountain bike skills coaching is all about will get a sneak peak behind the curtain to understand methodology and pedagogy that is common for professional mountain bike coaches.
Who are the instructors?
- Kristian Jackson - PMBIA Level 4 Instructor + Rocky Knob Trail Boss + PMBIA Instructor-Trainer Mentor
- Josh Whitmore - PMBIA Level 3 Instructor + Head Coach of MTB Skills Factory + PMBIA Instructor-Trainer
What to expect?
-
We’ll start with an intro to listen to your previous experience and goals, then set expectations and a plan for the clinic.
-
Then, we’ll move into a warmup and skills assessment, basically play for while, have fun, and get out bodies moving.
-
The majority of the lesson will dive into example lessons and topics we commonly teach, basically give you an example of a lesson while thinking / looking at through the lens of a mountain bike coach.
-
For day 2, we'll give out some topics to those who would love the chance to practice teach something in a supportive coaching evironment and recieve feedback from your peers.
