This is New Zealand's premiere rock ridge climb boasting amazing vistas of the Southern Alps and full value exposure while being a very accessible and achievable climbing objective for most people.
We start from the Remarkables ski field car park and ascent to the ridge in around 1.5hrs carrying a light pack. We then rope up for the scrabble to the summit of Double Cone using the natural terrain and rock protection, descending on to the Eastern face of Single cone for the return via Lake Alta. It can be done in either rock shoes or approach boots.
