Private Lesson for Jumps or Drops

Jumps: Taking flight on one of Ride Kanuga Bike Park's finely crafted jump lines is some of the most fun you can have on a bike. Want to learn how? Our “Air” certified instructors will guide you through the fundamentals of how to get those wheels off the ground in a safe, intentional, and controlled way.

Drops: Looking to tackle the wooden drops in the skills area or eyeing up the rock drops on the Hemlock Epoch Trail? A private lesson is the perfect way to guide you through the techniques to handle different height drops, at different speeds, with intention and control.

Who should take this lesson?

Choose this lesson if you are looking for private instruction specifically for Jumps or Drops. All level riders can take this lesson, whether this is your first time getting your tires off the ground or if you have regularly been riding jump lines (like Tortuga at Kanuga) but want to jump with more control or style! Choose one of our other private lessons for trail riding if you want to work on things like cornering, handling more technical trails, or the essentials like body position, braking, etc.

Who will be my instructor?

This lesson requires the instructor to be a certified “Air Instructor” through the PMBIA. Level 2 or Level 3 PMBIA Air Instructors have gone through specific training and evaluation on teaching jumps and drops. This ensures they follow proven teaching techniques, excellent risk management, and ability to offer accurate feedback to help you progress in a safe, intentional, and controlled way.

What to expect:

We’ll start by listening to your specific goals with jumps or drops, do a skills assessment to understand your current ability, then design a custom lesson that will help you reach your goals. We typically do an assessment and possible makeover with some fundamentals in the grass field or practice jumps / drops in our skills area. Then we start practicing and applying on the lower jump lines. We can also use the trails “First in Flight” and “Tortuga”. Expect LOTS of practice time, drills, and plenty of feedback/video analysis to help you progress.
